I think we all have some issue with big doors, big gates, big houses and anything that’s close to big. There seems to be fear or insecurity running in the streets as we star at those massive structures that are all so much bigger than ourselves. Yet in life there is a time to quit. And some do that better than others. Many call the shots while others get shot. It’s great to see some famous actress quietly fade from view, and nothing like a main stage athlete stealthily removing themselves from the limelight. It’s those fighters who tend to always die in the ring or in some hospital wing because they never say no to the absolute science aging, big boy. It’s not easy to deal with, when age gets the better of us. We hope that youthfulness hangs on for years but we’re dismayed when we notice a sea of wrinkles looming large on the facial horizons. Oh yes, we are mere mortals my friend, so let it be written, so let it be done!

If we could deduce our entire life into a numerical formula that would equal success then it’s found in three numbers, and they are one, six and then eight. In the book, when it sucks it blows, I talk about the various parts of Time management, using your watch, understanding how to waste your hours and feel good about yourself. There are things in life you can’t dismiss and one of them is the amount of time that is given to every human being on this planet. Some have hours, some have days, or some get centuries. This part of the equation doesn’t make sense and is completely removed from our ability to comprehend. And make sure there are no hard feelings or despondent mood swings because you are completely unable to ascertain the contents of why.
I mentioned money, knowledge and time as the three components that could lend to success in whatever endeavor you attempt. And I’m not referring to bungee jumping, hang gliding nor Dr. assisted suicide. Of these three time is the freebie. There’s no charge and it’s absolutely part of the bundle that’s given to all us wannabes. Most lack money and the greatest percentage completely avoid the pursuance of knowledge. So that means time is our only friend. And most of us probably only have one friend spelled TI ME.
So what you gonna do with all of those minutes or even seconds or how about hours? The time of dillydallying our way up the ladder is over. We have to stop the kitties parade that gets us nowhere. Enough of the flailing of arms and the body waiting language that says I’m not doing it this time or ever. Take what you got and see what you can do and if you fail one time or you fail 1000 times come on get back up and try it one more time for the Gipper.

I don’t know about you, but my past is the greatest instructor of all time. The trail behind my eons of years on this big red or blue planet is staggering to say the least. And in all those minutes I’ve made tragic choices that ended up in more than tragic results. I am the end result of poor strategies. There’s no one to blame but myself. Bring out the chopping block and remove the ugly mass above my shoulders.
And the funny thing is I constantly exist in the rear. The time back then seems to be more enjoyable than the present which ultimately affects my future. And why is that? What makes the great times 20 years ago so invigorating, so enlightening, or so juicy? It’s easy as I’m speaking now to sense I’ll never ever do most of what I’ve done, so why do I keep looking back. There’s a story in the Bible where God tells someone to not look back when they leave Sodom and Gomorrah. Well as this unfolds, that individual can’t control herself and casually looks over her shoulder and is turned to salt not sea salt. And if there’s a lesson learned from a story that seems somewhat unbelievable, it’s that it’s better to do what you can in the now and not attempt to coexist in both then and now.
I know that seems easy for me to state the obvious, and it’s also easy because I’m the author of this horrible autobiography if you will but that’s the very nature of what looking or living in the past will do to most.
In the future I will list some bullet points, or give you some a through Z reasons why you should not yet at this time I’m only referring to just don’t go backwards.

As you well know by now, I’m not an avid fan of “hero worship” even though I’ve been known to mingle with those who are successful. Yet, sometimes I’ve allowed myself to rub elbows or shoulders with those who tend to taint my life. And after the test results, I find I’m sick and almost unresponsive.
Yes, people are the greatest examples our life has to offer, whether it’s mimicking Christ, Gandhi, or the Pope. We all pick and choose who we want to be like. Hopefully we see our parents, or our teachers, or those mentors who have invested as candidates who we would like exemplify.
Almost no one can really comprehend the impact of what Mother Teresa’s involvement in India and the surrounding areas did to those souls. She changed the landscape through her actions, she reinvigorated those who were completely stalemated, she fed those who were hungry, she gave to those who were poor. And that list of things she performed seems almost endless, if you’re to compare your life with hers, and I would recommend that in a New York minute!

This world is all about the have’s and the have-nots. There are those who have made oodles of money dripping from their big fat eardrums and all at the expense of us common, ordinary types. Oh yes, they have pilfered and sucked us dry as a bone of our very lifeblood, like some old oil derrick.
The title of this chapter, represents just that, it’s those people who have something tangible yet have zero character. They lack in the areas where you wish they thrived. It’s not uncommon for families throughout the USA to hide out in their big castles, and never make a red carpet appearance to the rest of us ordinary humanoids.
It’s all about living a moderate existence. So if you’re wanting longevity of life think in small doses and not some cataclysmic over the top extravaganza, then buy a Prius. Moderation is all about living within your means. Moderation is also found in our speech, and our abilities to empathize, and even in our distribution of our stuff to those who need. No piece of cheap plastic is ever worth the elimination of people’s obvious needs.

It’s not easy being yourself. It’s not easy being me. Life is a huge mumbo-jumbo pool of whatever’s. I can’t to this day still understand why some things happen the way they do, or why some people get what they don’t deserve, or even those who hit the big lotto payday.
This forth chapter from When it Sucks it Blows, is all about uniqueness. Oh yes, we are definitely not the same, I can assure you of that. With our retina, fingerprints and are isolated brain waves, we are our own person. Some have been designed to be mechanics, others are dentists, and myself, I labor at greeting my local inmates at Walmart. We all got a job to do, and we all need to do what we’ve been called to do, whatever that may be.
When I mention the term unique, I’m implying that there is a difference between you and the rest of the world. That we are all specifically designed with an “individual code” that is not transferable, or the same as anyone else’s. Our DNA is different and that’s a promise! The term contrast we understand, it’s the universe we dwell in that we show our limitations. There is no way we will ever comprehend the total, especially struggling to just make our bed.
